Forgotten Materials｜Double Breasted Waistcoat

Inspired by circa 1930s French tailored waistcoat, this piece reinterprets a classic foundation through a contemporary lens. It is constructed using fabric sourced from a Japanese textile mill, then dyed with traditional sumi ink techniques to achieve a deep, nuanced grey tone. 
Subtle tonal contrasts across the chest are elevated by an eclectic arrangement of irregular buttons, including botanical hand-dyed coconut buttons, custom-developed metal hardware, and fabric-covered buttons made from deadstock textiles. 
At the back, a custom-developed adjuster enhances both functionality and identity, serving as a distinctive design element.
